Living room green corner: planter, vase and lamp

A green corner is a corner of the living room finished with one plant and two supporting objects. It does not need square metres; it needs a free corner and a socket. Spain's INE has been recording the growing share of single-person households in Spain. Those flats accumulate dead corners and little furniture. Three families of objects bring order to that corner: planter, vase and table lamp. Letters only come in if the wall is left bare. Everything is made from PLA bioplastic with a matt finish. The starting point is the planters collection.

A planter for the living room corner

The planter is the piece that anchors the corner to the floor. Fluxenna planters are cache-pots: they wrap around the nursery pot and are not declared watertight.

The size is decided by the root ball, not by the space. The industry rule adds 2 to 4 cm to the diameter of the nursery pot. For a floor plant next to the sofa, the useful range is 22 to 28 cm. For a low side table, 12 to 16 cm. The catalogue covers diameters from 10 to 28 cm. The RHS recommends moving up a size when roots poke out of the drainage holes.

Texture counts for more than colour in a dim corner. A helical relief casts its own shadow and adds volume without direct light. The helical rope texture planter (€15.45) works well in that role. If the plant has large leaves, the base needs more mass. The fluted and smooth dual-texture planter (€22.99) gives that presence without a fussy pattern.

For colour, terracotta and sage green work with dark green leaves. Bone white and ash grey suit a plant that is already variegated.

Tip. Raise the cache-pot 2 cm on two felt pads under the base. Air circulates and the parquet does not get a ring mark. Proportions for each room are covered in this guide to living room planters.

A vase for the corner side table

With the plant in place, the corner is green but a little flat. The vase adds a dry silhouette that does not depend on watering.

Its height is decided in relation to the lamp. On a shared side table, the vase should stay below the body of the lamp. Between 16 and 22 cm is the range that works. With dried branches, the arrangement rises about 30 cm higher.

The floral styling proportion avoids the classic mistake. The arrangement measures between one and a half and two times the height of the vase. With a 20 cm container, the branches reach about 35 cm. Above that mark, the arrangement competes with the plant and the corner becomes overcrowded.

For colour, unity comes from repeating the shade of the planter. WGSN and Coloro have been pointing to warm neutrals as a stable base for several seasons. Desert sand and ivory white are the calm choice. Just one saturated accent per corner: caramel or night blue, never both.

The available silhouettes are in the designer decorative vases collection.

Tip. Use dried flowers or branches, never fresh flowers. The corner is seen every day and cloudy water shows. The approach to mixing pieces is covered in this guide to combining pieces without clutter.

A table lamp for the corner of the living room

Ceiling light spreads flat and leaves the corner in shadow. A table lamp changes the corner more than any new object.

Houzz has been recording the rise of layered lighting in the living room. The table lamp is the second layer, after the ceiling. In a green corner it does a double job. It marks the corner and silhouettes the leaves against the wall.

Height is calculated from seated eye level. On a sofa, eye level is around 105 cm from the floor. A side table is 50 to 60 cm high. With a lamp body of 30 to 40 cm, the shade hides the bulb. Below 3,000 K, warm light does not interfere with rest later on.

A technical note worth respecting. PLA starts to soften at around 60 °C according to its technical data sheets. With an LED bulb there is no problem, because it gives off very little heat. Halogen and incandescent bulbs are ruled out.

Tabletop formats in matt PLA are in the designer table lamps collection.

Tip. Point the beam at the wall, not at the plant. The leaves stand out in silhouette and the corner gains depth. The three-piece set is detailed in this living room guide with lamp, vase and planter.

Decorative letters for the corner wall

Letters only come in when the wall of the corner is left empty. They are not essential, but they complete the background without hanging a picture.

The height is chosen by reading distance. From the sofa, that wall is two or three metres away. At that distance, 20 and 25 cm can be read without effort. Heights of 5 and 10 cm are kept for the shelf or the side table.

A short word works better than a phrase. HOME, a single initial or the name of the house work. Four characters at 20 cm take up about 85 cm of wall. That measurement fits just above a standard side table.

The matt finish is again the key. A directional lamp creates a hard reflection on any glossy surface. Matt PLA returns shadow, not a point of light. The word stays legible with the lamp switched on.

Heights and colours are in the personalisable decorative letters collection.

Tip. Line the word up with the back of the sofa, never with the ceiling. Eye level is what rules in a low corner.

How to put it all together

The 60-30-10 rule brings order to the corner without a moodboard. The 60% is the dominant colour: wall, sofa and floor. The 30% is the supporting colour, which is where the planter and vase come in. The remaining 10% is the accent, a single piece.

Translated into concrete decisions: an off-white wall and an unbleached linen sofa make up the 60%. Planter and vase in desert sand cover the 30%. The caramel lamp base completes the 10%. Pantone chose Cloud Dancer as its colour of the year for 2026. That soft white fits as the dominant colour of the scheme.

Then there is the order of assembly, which almost nobody respects. First the plant and planter, because they set the scale. Then the lamp, which defines where the shadow falls. The vase last, with the light already on.

Two common mistakes close the chapter. The first is matching heights: planter, vase and lamp should never be the same height. The second is repeating texture. If the planter is fluted, the vase is smooth. The full range of diameters lives in the planters collection.

Green corner budget in three brackets

Planter prices come from the real catalogue. The vase and the lamp should be checked in their own collections, because they are not in the planter inventory.

The result

What you are left with is a corner with a purpose of its own. There is a green leaf silhouetted against the lit wall. There is a dried branch that needs no water. There is a low light that comes on when you sit down. None of it gets in the way or requires a drill.

Three complete combinations, depending on the style of the living room:

  • Japandi. A 22 cm fluted cache-pot in ash grey. An 18 cm vase in ivory white and a lamp in bone white.
  • Mediterranean. A 24 cm cache-pot in terracotta. A low vase in desert sand and a lamp in caramel.
  • Nordic. A 20 cm two-tone cache-pot. A smooth 16 cm vase in bone white and a lamp in dove grey.

Frequently asked questions

What planter diameter does a floor plant in the living room need?

The cache-pot is chosen by the root ball, not by the space in the corner. Add 2 to 4 cm to the diameter of the nursery pot. For a floor plant next to the sofa, the useful range is 22 to 28 cm. The catalogue goes up to 28 cm.

How do you light a green corner without glare?

With a 30 to 40 cm table lamp on a 50 to 60 cm side table. The shade sits above the bulb and does not dazzle you when seated. Choose a colour temperature below 3,000 K. Point the beam at the wall, not at the leaves.

Can you water the plant inside the planter?

No. Fluxenna planters are decorative cache-pots: they wrap around the nursery pot and are not declared watertight. Water the nursery pot in the sink, let it drain and put it back in the cache-pot. Standing water at the bottom rots the roots. The exception is the self-watering model, which does have a reservoir.

How much does it cost to create a green corner in the living room?

The planters are the part that can be calculated precisely. The catalogue ranges from €4.99 to €22.99 per piece. An essential corner comes to around €35 including the plant. The complete set-up with lamp and a word on the wall approaches €120. Shipping is free from €35.

To sum up

A green corner is not solved by buying plants; it is solved by deciding the scale. Choose the cache-pot diameter first, because it sets the proportion of everything else. Then comes the height of the lamp and, finally, that of the vase. The three decisions support each other. The matt finish of the PLA is what allows directional light and objects to sit together without reflections. Diameters range from 10 to 28 cm. The more than twelve colours are in the planters collection. Production is made to order in 24-48 hours. Shipping takes 3 to 5 working days to mainland Spain.
