Ribbed Planter with Name on a Central Plaque

A designer planter with vertical ribs that break off halfway up to make room for a smooth plaque. That is where the name goes, in relief. The result is an understated piece that works just as well in a grown-up dining room as it does as a gift with a built-in dedication.

Design and detail

The ribs run vertically around the whole body, very close together and shallow, creating a rhythm of light and shadow that slims the piece and makes it look taller than it is. On the front, a recessed rectangle cuts that rhythm off sharply: this is the plaque, and the contrast between the smooth and ribbed areas is what makes the name readable without getting close. The letters are not sunken; they rise from the bottom of the recess.

At Christmas, with a small fir tree or eucalyptus, it becomes a centrepiece with each guest's name.

The plaque takes up a good part of the front, so short names get a larger letter size. On the small diameters, it is best to keep to a few letters.

Can it be used outdoors?
It is designed for indoor use and covered areas; avoid prolonged direct sunlight.
