About Decorative Planters, Made to Order

Planters are functional, decorative containers for indoor plants. Fluxenna makes planters to order using its own handcrafted process in Spain, available in more than 20 colours. The range includes rope-texture, smiley-face and footed designs, from 10 to 28 cm in diameter. Every model is made from a moisture-resistant material and has a drainage hole.

Why a designer planter changes the final look

The difference between a functional planter and a decorative one shows when the plant is not at its best. A well-chosen planter holds the visual composition of a shelf together even when the plant is going through a bad patch. In a Nordic or Japandi living room, the rope texture adds warmth without adding colour. In a kitchen with personality, the smiley-face planter brings a controlled touch of humour.

Handcrafted planters have one specific technical advantage over ceramic ones: they weigh between 40% and 60% less, they handle moisture better without absorbing it, and the colour is part of the material from the start, with no extra paint to chip over time.

Types of indoor planters

Tabletop planters: diameters from 10 to 18 cm. For succulents, cacti and herbs. They work on shelves, desks and kitchen worktops. Cactus pots usually need a diameter of 10 to 14 cm with fast drainage.

Footed planters (tall): raise the plant 20 to 35 cm off the floor. Suitable for monsteras, pothos and philodendrons that need room for their leaves. Total weight under 1.5 kg in the standard models.

Self-watering pots: these have an inner reservoir that keeps moisture stable for 7-10 days. Recommended for people who travel, or for plants that suffer when they miss a watering, such as calatheas and ferns.

Hanging pots and wall planters: the wall models fix without drilling, and the hanging models use a strong cord. For hallways, kitchens and bathrooms with no free horizontal surface. Also suitable for covered terraces.

Rectangular pots: designed for windowsills and balconies. They let you group several small plants or herbs in a row.

How to choose the right size

The most common mistake is buying a planter for its looks before measuring the plant. Rule of thumb: the inner diameter of the planter should be 2 to 4 cm larger than the diameter of the plant's current root ball. For succulents, 10-14 cm is enough. For medium tropical plants (calathea, Swiss cheese plant), choose 18 to 24 cm.

Every planter in the range has a drainage hole. The material withstands residual moisture without damaging the surface it stands on.

Frequently Asked Questions

For a medium-sized monstera or pothos, the inner diameter of the planter should be between 18 and 22 cm. The rule is that it should exceed the diameter of the current root ball by 2 to 4 cm. If the plant already fills its current pot, it is time to repot it.

For a Scandinavian look, planters with a rope texture in natural tones (matt white, sand beige, moss green) fit best. They add tactile warmth without competing with the colour palette. Tall models with raised legs lift the plant visually and bring lightness to the whole.

Production time is 24 hours from order confirmation. Once it is ready, delivery takes 1 to 3 working days in peninsular Spain. For the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands and Europe, transport time varies by destination.

Yes. The catalogue shows more than 12 standard colours, but the Fluxenna team accepts custom colours on request. Write to us before ordering with the Pantone code or a visual reference and we will assess whether it is feasible.

They are made for indoor use. The material withstands normal watering moisture, but
prolonged exposure to direct rain and UV rays can affect the colour finish
over time. They work well on covered terraces with partial protection.

Yes. The material is formulated to withstand the moisture from regular watering. It does not absorb water or retain it on the outside. The drainage hole included in all
models prevents water building up at the base, which damages both the plant and the surface it stands on.

Shipping is free for orders of 45 € or more. Below
that amount, the carrier's standard shipping charges apply. For orders to Europe, the shipping conditions are shown at checkout depending on the destination country.
