About Personalised Decorative Letters

Personalised letters are raised lettering pieces with real depth that decorate walls, shelves and events. Fluxenna makes made-to-measure personalised letters by hand, with 24-hour turnaround. Each letter measures between 8 and 40 cm, in 12 colours and 15 fonts. They are used for children's bedroom names, initials in the living room or wedding signage.

What decorative letters are and how they differ from vinyl

Compared with adhesive vinyl or flat cardboard letters, decorative letters with body have real thickness, between 1 and 2 cm depending on the model. That thickness casts its own shadow and can be seen from the doorway. In a 12 m² child's bedroom, a five-letter word at 15 cm takes up just the right space to be the focal point without overloading the room.

The relief is not a printed effect or a drawn shadow: it is physical thickness, measured at the edge of the piece. That is why the letter changes appearance throughout the day. In direct midday light it reads clean and flat; in low afternoon side light it casts a shadow that can visually double its size. A 15 cm raised letter has more presence on the wall than a printed poster of the same size.

Each order is made when it comes in, not before. There is no stock to clear and no sizes that sell out: if you order a 32 cm letter in olive green, that letter is made, in that colour, in that size.

Types of personalised decorative letters

Decorative initials

A single letter, treated as an object. It works on a shelf, bedside table or hallway console. Options include floral relief, block, Maori-style finish or a clean Helvetica font. From €3.99.

Full names

The most common use in a child's bedroom: the baby's name above the headboard or on the wall next to the cot. There are also interlocking letters, which slot together and stand up on their own without fixing.

HOME letters and decorative words

HOME letters are the most ordered word in the range, ahead of any first name. Four characters, instantly readable and suited to almost any style. At 15 cm the word takes up between 55 and 70 cm of wall depending on the font, so it fits a narrow hallway or the gap between two doors.

Beyond HOME, these are the decorative words that come up most often and where they work best:

  • HOME or FAMILY: living room and hallway, in a serif font and neutral tones.
  • LOVE: adult bedrooms and wedding decor, at 8-12 cm.
  • DREAMS or DREAM: children's bedrooms, in a rounded font and soft colours.
  • BAR or CAFÉ: kitchen, breakfast bar or coffee corner, in a black geometric font.

Decorative letters for the home also work as a word-and-initial combination: HOME at 15 cm paired with the surname initial at 25 cm creates a hierarchy without needing anything else on the wall.

Children's letters

With feet so they stand on their own, hollow to fill with fairy lights or small objects, or with themed motifs. They are designed for a room where decor gets touched, not just looked at. If you are decorating a whole room with dinosaurs, unicorns or space, the dedicated range is in personalised children's and baby letters.

Letters for weddings and events

Place cards with each guest's name, glass place cards, and the couple's initials for the top table. Each guest takes theirs home, which is the part people remember.

Decorative numbers

Decorative numbers are made with the same 1 to 2 cm relief as the letters and share the same fonts and colours. Four common uses: an age for a birthday, the year of a special date, table numbers at a wedding and an indoor door number. At 25 cm, a number works well as a standalone piece at a photo booth or dessert table. They are not the right choice for house or front-door numbers: they are designed for indoor use, and constant exposure to sun and rain shortens their lifespan.

Sizes and uses

Size decides whether the letter plays a supporting role or takes centre stage. Three guide ranges:

  • 8-12 cm: on a shelf, desk or bedside table. They complement without dominating.
  • 15-20 cm: mounted on the wall, above the bed or behind the sofa. Medium presence.
  • 25-40 cm: the focal point of the wall in living rooms or teenagers' bedrooms.

Large decorative letters: when the XL format is worth it

Large decorative letters start at 25 cm tall. They work when three conditions are met: there are at least 3 metres of viewing distance, the wall is free of pictures and shelves, and the set is no more than three characters. A 35 cm initial above a 160 cm headboard is a clear focal point; the same letters used to spell a seven-character name take up more than two metres of wall and no longer read as decoration.

With standard 2.50 m ceilings, keep the 30 cm-plus format for walls more than 2 metres wide. And limit the set to one focal point per wall: two groups of large decorative letters facing each other compete and neither wins.

Wall letters: where to put them in each room

The hanging height changes the result more than the size of the piece. These are the guidelines we give when someone asks where to put their wall letters:

  • Above the headboard: centre the set 25-30 cm above the headboard, not the mattress. The total width should not exceed two thirds of the width of the bed.
  • Behind the sofa: the visual centre sits about 145 cm from the floor. Leave 20 cm clear above the backrest so the shadow shows.
  • Hallway: at eye level, between 150 and 160 cm. This is the natural spot for a short word or the surname initial.
  • Study or desk area: 8-12 cm formats aligned with the shelf above, not centred over the desk.
  • Kitchen: away from the cooker hood and direct steam from the sink.

For letters to decorate a baby's room there is one safety rule worth following: do not place pieces directly above the cot. The wall next to it or the space above the chest of drawers does the same job without anything hanging over the child. If your little one already stands up in the cot, move the set above the reach of their outstretched arms.

How to put letters on the wall without drilling

The pieces are light, so in most cases no drill is needed. Three methods by size: reusable adhesive putty for 8-12 cm, double-sided foam tape for 15-20 cm, and adhesive Velcro or a dab of silicone from 25 cm.

An honest warning: on textured walls, high-gloss paint or wallpaper, any adhesive grips less well. On those walls it is best to test a single letter before mounting the full set and leave it for 24 hours before relying on the fixing.

Available fonts

Each letter is made in the font you choose before confirming the order. The three most requested families:

  • Rounded: babies' rooms and Scandinavian or boho spaces. They soften the look.
  • Geometric: modern living rooms, studies and minimalist spaces, where the furniture already has straight lines.
  • Classic serif: entrance halls, weddings and more formal settings.

If you are unsure which font suits your space, the full guide is in How to personalise decorative letters: a guide to fonts, sizes and colours.

Available colours and decor styles

The letters are made in 12 colours. The most requested by style:

  • Black and white: Scandinavian, minimalist, industrial.
  • Terracotta, sage green, mustard: Mediterranean, boho, wabi-sabi.
  • Bright colours, blue, red, yellow: children's bedrooms and events.

Two practical tips. First: the piece reads better if its colour already appears in a textile in the room, such as a cushion, a rug or a curtain, even in a different intensity. Second: in sets of more than four characters, a single colour ages better than alternating shades, which tends to look like party decorations.

How to choose letters for decorating: five criteria

Choosing letters for decorating comes down to five decisions, best made in this order:

  1. Viewing distance. Measure from where the piece will be seen most of the time. Under 2 metres allows 8-12 cm; over 3 metres calls for at least 20 cm.
  2. Number of characters. From seven letters, drop one size range. A long name in a large format stops working as a set.
  3. Font to match the style. Rounded for Scandinavian and boho, geometric for minimalist and industrial, serif for classic interiors and formal events.
  4. Contrast with the wall. On a white wall, a saturated colour or black. On a coloured wall, white or a shade two steps lighter. White on white only works if there is side light to bring out the shadow.
  5. Budget per set. The price is calculated per letter, so the cost grows with the length of the word, not the size of the wall. From €3.99 per piece.

Applied to a real case: for letters to decorate the walls of a 20 m² living room, with the sofa 3.5 metres from the feature wall, what works best is a four-character word at 20-25 cm, in a single colour, centred above the backrest.

Built-up letters for decoration: how they differ from signage

People looking for built-up letters for decoration often come from the vocabulary of commercial signage: PVC, acrylic or steel pieces from 50 cm, often backlit and designed for shopfronts and windows. If you need a shop sign or an illuminated letter, a sign maker is the right supplier.

Fluxenna letters are built-up letters in the literal sense, with volume and their own shadow, but they are sized for indoor use: from 8 to 40 cm, with no electrical components and with adhesive fixing. For a wall at home, a photo booth or an event table, this format is easier to handle and much cheaper than a signage letter. If you need them for an office or a brand, we cover that in Made-to-measure built-up letters for branding and offices.

Lead time Immediate or a few days 24 h plus shipping
Guide price per letter €1 to €5 From €3.99
Best for Temporary decor, rented homes Baby names, events, gifts
Verdict Wins on price and long phrases Wins on colour, font and lead time

Vinyl wins on price and for temporary decor in rented flats. Our letters make sense when relief, exact colour and having the piece within a few days matter.

Durability and care

Indoors and at household temperatures, the estimated lifespan is more than 5 years with no noticeable loss of colour. The material withstands up to 55 °C without deforming. Care is simply a dry or slightly damp cloth, with no abrasive products or scourers. Two real limits: continuous direct sunlight speeds up fading, and the letters should be kept away from radiators and nearby halogen spotlights.

Buy personalised wall letters

You choose the letter or word, the size, the font and the colour on the product page. Production starts when you confirm the order and leaves the workshop within 24 hours. Delivery takes 3 to 5 working days to mainland Spain and 3 to 7 to the rest of Europe. Shipping is free on orders over 45 €.

Each piece is made after the order is confirmed; it does not come out of a warehouse. That adds a couple of days to the wait compared with a stock product, and in return it eliminates overproduction and lets you order combinations that no standard catalogue offers. If you need a size outside the range, a font that is not on the list or a layout with specific proportions, get in touch before ordering: because we make to order, there is no mould stopping us from adjusting the design.

Frequently asked questions about personalised letters

What exactly are decorative letters?

Decorative letters are raised lettering pieces that are fixed to the wall or stood on a surface. Unlike vinyl, they are 1 to 2 cm thick and cast their own shadow. They can be ordered as initials, full names, short words or numbers from 0 to 9.

What size letters do I need for my wall?

It depends on the viewing distance and the number of characters. Under 2 metres, 8-12 cm is enough. From 3 metres, 20 cm or more is best. And from seven characters, drop one size range: a long name in a large format no longer reads as a set.

How do you stick letters to the wall?

It depends on the size. Up to 12 cm, reusable adhesive putty, which leaves no mark. From 15 to 20 cm, double-sided foam tape. From 25 cm, adhesive Velcro or silicone. On textured walls or wallpaper, test one letter before the whole set.

How much do personalised letters cost?

From €3.99 per letter for the base models, €7.99 for designs with detailed relief such as the floral one, and up to €8.99 for the hollow children's letter or the letter with the name built into the base. Because the price is per piece, the total cost depends on the length of the word more than the size of the wall.

How long does the order take to arrive?

Production takes 24 hours from when you confirm the order, because each piece is made to order. Shipping is added to that: 3 to 5 working days to mainland Spain and 3 to 7 to the rest of Europe. Shipping is free on orders over 45 €.

Can I order whole words and numbers, not just single letters?

Yes. Initials, full names, words such as HOME or DREAMS, surnames and numbers from 0 to 9, all with the same relief, fonts and colours. For a long name, each letter is made separately and the set is shipped together, so you can adjust the spacing when you put it up.

Are they safe for a baby's room?

The letters are made from high-quality, solvent-free materials. The precaution is not the material but the placement: do not hang pieces directly above the cot, use the wall next to it, and on high surfaces fix them with wall plugs rather than adhesive.

Can I return them if I am not happy with the result?

Made-to-measure products, with a name or font chosen by the customer, are excluded from the 14-day right of withdrawal under EU consumer law. If the piece arrives faulty or does not match what you ordered, email hola@fluxenna.com and it will be replaced.

FAQs

Personalised gift letters are made-to-order pieces with a name or initials, designed for celebrations such as weddings, baby showers or anniversaries. Fluxenna makes them to order with the typeface, size and colour of your choice. Each piece arrives ready to give, with no assembly or installation needed.

Name letters work as a favour or gift at weddings, baby showers, anniversaries and birthdays. At a wedding, they mark the couple's table or spell out the couple's initials. At a baby shower, they show the baby's name. They are a keepsake that lasts beyond the event.

A personalised letter carries the recipient's name or initials, something a standard favour does not offer. That personalisation turns the gift into a piece made for that person or couple. Fluxenna letters, for example, combine keepsake and lasting decoration, unlike a single-use favour.

Each piece is made to order within 24 hours of order confirmation. Delivery then takes 3-5 working days to peninsular Spain. For a wedding or baby shower on a fixed date, we recommend ordering 10-14 days ahead. Shipping is free on orders over 45 €.

Yes, you choose the typeface, size and colour for each order. Name letters and initials are adapted to the date, the couple or the baby you are celebrating. There are several typefaces and at least 12 colours available. You can also order a full name, a single initial or a specific word.

The price depends on the number of letters, the size and the typeface chosen. A single initial or a short name costs less than a long word or a large size. Shipping is free from 45 €. Ask for a quote based on the name and the format you need.

Yes, personalised letters are designed to be kept as a memento of the event for years. They are made from high-quality materials with a matt finish, suitable for decorative use indoors. They are not a one-day favour: many customers display them at home after the wedding or birthday.
